We have been busy learning and participating in different activities. Check out the comment section below to see what has been going on the week of November 5-9.
This is what we have been doing in Social Studies. Elections All of the class voted for someone then we counted the votes and Obama won. We are still learning about the three branches of government. It helps us learn more about Politics and Religion. We are having so much fun learning about the government with our Block C students!!! Our teachers go through so much hard work to teach us and find fun ways to help us learn something so interesting.
In daily five we have new books named Hoot,Maniac Magee,Loser,and Star Girl.Some of these books are for lit circles. Lit circles are changing because we have new groups,and we are going to blog about them insted of writing on paper.Our new writing project for daily five is to write a biography about a president.For listen to reading our book is Hoot.For working with words we are using the prefix co-,and com-.These prefix mean together,with,and jointly.For read to someone we have thick questions to ask the person we are reading with every once and a while.For read to self we read any book if not our lit circles book to be able to blog about it.
In math we are learning how to measure angles without/with protractors. And we are learning about tessellations, and we are making a tessellation design today. Tessellations are shapes that make patterns that repeat themselves. We also found out that pentagons and octagons don't make tessellation. And we recently do number talk, we have to figure out the problems on the board, but we have to solve the problem in our head, and if we have a stratgey we hold up 1 thumb against our chest or if we more than one stratgey we hold up more fingers. In class we have to try and figure out a graph and answers for diffrent paint companies. And other question come with the packet. That's all we have!
This week in fifth grade we are learning about,Veterans Day and veterans.We are also learning about how to interview a veteran.We have to learn how to ask approriate questions,to stay on task, if you are writing down notes you have to look up once in a while so they know you are listening,and most importantly you have to shake their hands so they know they can trust you!All of these skills of interviewing a veteran is real fun! but we are eager to interview a veteran and listen to there amazing stories
